This is the floating spiral invented by Eric Glennie. Being a Glennie knot, it has a specific opening set of moves which you will remember from the Glennie Double. It is pretty easy to tie once you get the hang of it and gives your ties a very tasteful round, tubular look. No dimples here! This knot is perfect with all kinds of ties, but something magical can happen with stripes. Personally I am a huge fan, it looks unique and fresh while still being crisp and intentional. I hope you enjoy it as well, tell me what you think.

Thank you for sharing so many interesting knots.
This has become one of my favorite knots for a contrast tie. Sometimes the stripes shift a little throughout the day and the zig-zag gets off line and it can look like it was tied by accident. But with a contrast tie the knot looks absolutely intentional and well planned out. I’ve got a green tie with a purple tail (think Joker green and purple) and this knot gets the most compliments for the tie. Thanks for the videos, keep them coming.
How do you manage to get the contrast to be the cross color?
I am not sure what you mean
I have a tie where the middle section is a different color, so when I tie a Four in Hand, a Prat, or windsor variations the knot is a different color than the rest (perhaps contrast tie is the wrong term for this type of tie), it is a Scott Allen Tie. If I tie any little end knots, the knot is the same color as the tie. With the Floating Spiral knot, the middle section (which is purple) crosses over the green tie and looks awesome
