[…] So now that you guys have an overview of our thoughts to some modern styles, let’s provide guidance on the ultimate, traditional, and conservative choice that will make your father proud and that is just a regular, pointed, silk neck tie of roughly 3.25-3.5 inches wide. Surprise right? Not sure why we see otherwise, but it’s not cute. This tie should be long enough to sit right near your belt buckle and be tied each time you wear it. No clip-on and none of that ‘loosen it just enough to pull over your head for next time’ stuff. It’s silk and won’t wrinkle if you hang it or roll it up correctly. This piece should also be worn plain with no tie clips. We get you want to look perfect but the tie doesn’t need to look glued to your shirt. As for knots, it depends on the spread and style of your collar but the safest bet is a Full Windsor. Don’t let us catch you with those obnoxious knots that look like beehives. […]

[…] The Eldredge knot is complex, if you tie it with a striped tie the stripes end up shooting in relatively random directions and make it look rather chaotic. It looks fine, it makes it tough to discover that the knot itself is a pattern. People say this knot is makes you appear desperate for interest. It makes it obvious that you care about how you look, and you took extra time today to make your knot this way. (source: https://agreeordie.com) […]

That is an insanely cool looking knot! Always been a fan of the Windsor knot but may have to give this one a try!
I feel so much happier now I unredstand all this. Thanks!
Great site
How would this look with a solid black necktie? If it isn’t really a good option, what color (preferably no pattern) necktie would You suggest for a graduation going with a notch lapel, single breast, black jacket, black pants and a solid white shirt?
That would look good!
It looks great with a solid black tie. I actually wore it today in a monochromatic suit (all black) and it worked well. I feel the single color helped to make the tie stand out less, which seems to be most people’s concern with the knot.
Nice bro! I watched this video in particular and it helped me a lot to learn how to do the eldredge knot:
For a job interview? God no! This knot is flamboyant, and for any job other than in the fashion industry, you want to
give a first impression of professional conservatism. For an interview it’s a huge risk. be smart and go with a windsor knot instead.
I appreciate your opinion, but I would argue that being memorable is more important than being fashion conservative.
Wearing an interesting knot is what got me my old job and is what I’m famous for at my current one. Gotta say that it helps you to feel confident and sets you apart from the rest.
My fiance worr this knot to his job interview, i tied it for him an hour before! Two hours after his interview he was offered the job!! Hes in tech support doing all the repair work!!
Hey Alex! Thanks for this video, it really helped me!
I was trying to teach a friend how to tie the Eldredge, and he started messing around with it and eventually he came up with a pretty cool knot that I haven’t seen anywhere else. I’d like to show it to you, because i want to hear your opinion. Where would be the best place to upload the picture?
Would you recommend this knot for a job interview? I mean here, (Colombia) most guys use the traditional Windsor or half Windsor knot, so I just want my interviewer to remind and notice me more than other candidates.
I would go for it.
Very cool. I think it might be too complicated for me though.

Your how-to video would get way more views than mine did.
I’ll have you know that I was very peacefully sitting on the toilet reading about ties when I read this comment. Then I broke into uncontrollable booming laughter, and now everyone wants to know what’s so hilarious about taking a crap.

Thank You.
Seriously you posted a link to a pre-tied eldredge you sell? This is crazy ridiculous, if you don’t want to learn how to tie a tie why would you be on this site?
Where can you get the tie that is in the middle at the top of page.
It really shocks me how many ways there is to tie a tie! The True love knot would be perfect for wedding guests.
I found your site a while ago and wear a few of the knots I discovered here. I work for a shirt company “Hawes and Curtis” so I need to look good every day. Whenever I wear the Eldridge knot, especially on a Saturday, I have to show at least 6 customers how to tie it. I must have sent 100s of people to this site in the last 6 months. Great site
Thank you! I appreciate that.
Such a great knot! Tried it for the first time today…
Excellent work!
Eldredge knot- great knot. Wore it to work a few times and an after work function; and was noticed. Got a few stares as well, as the mental wheels were turning…’how did he do that’ I found this knot ‘knot’ too difficult to tie. Found it easy to get the right length by starting the wide part of the tie at the level I want. Might help to add a sticky piece of Velcro to keep the tucked-end tucked.
“Knot too difficult”… This pun is inexcusable.
Nice
I get more compliments on this knot than any other I wear. Especially my Pink Foulard and all my small dot/diamond patterns…. seriously considering trying the Onassis at work tomorrow
Try stripes too.
Sick knot bro
