There are just so many Nintendo games out there, who has time to play them all? Apparently I do; all of them, 5 min per game. After my playing I will give each game a rating of 0 or 1. Sometimes I will have guests drop by and help.

NES AtoZ 65: Galaga

,

Galaga - 1/1

As far as ports go, this is really something. It might be the best port on Nintnedo. I played a good amount of Galaga in the arcade too, and this plays great. I don’t know what I can say about Galaga. The game is simple to play but challenging to master. I would say if you are a retro game collector, this is the next best thing to having an actual Galaga arcade.

Does something look like fun? You want to check it out for yourself? There is nothing stopping you! Emulating these games is easier than ever. If you are a Mac user, go download OpenEmu right now. If you are a Windows user just go get FCEUX NES emulator. All you need now is the games.

NES AtoZ 64: Galactic Crusader

,

Galactic Crusader - 0/1

The only question that really needs to be answered is: is this better than Galaga? A very good Galaga port is already on Nintendo (coming up next), so this needs to bring something new to the table. The sprites are nice and large, and there are some weapon upgrades you can pick up, which is a noticeable difference. But if I am looking for a shmup with upgrades i’ll look to better games like Crysis Force or Zanac. Unfortunately the game fails in fun-factor. It simply isn’t better than Galaga so I recommend playing that.

NES AtoZ 63: G.I.Joe The Atlantis Factor

,

G.I.Joe Atlantis Factor - 0/1

The Atlantis factor is a totally different game, developed by a different company. Either game is a sequel to the other, which might actually have been pretty confusing for kids in the day. Imagine trying to talk to a kid at school about how awesome the “G.I.Joe” game is and being utterly baffled that your experiences don’t match? Or maybe nobody every played either of these games. Anyway, we found Capcom’s version of this franchise to be much worse. I MIGHT be wrong because we only scratched the surface of this game and we got jammed on the first boss. But the gameplay in that limited time is less fun, even though the controls seem fine and there is probably some kind of character selection. It isn’t terrible, but if you are thirsty for a G.I.Joe experience, get the Taxan version.
